Septarian was created as a result of volcanic eruptions during the Cretaceous period 50-70 million years ago, right around the time that dinosaurs went extinct. Sediment formed around sea life creating mud balls that, over time, crack and develop Calcite crystals which turn into Aragonite. 

Because it is known to be so ancient, many believe it is the best stone for grounding and connecting to the Earth. It is said to be the perfect stone for anyone going through big changes, as it helps repair emotional damage and creates a protective shield around one’s energy.
